Water heater help!
I bought a house and noticed it takes a little while for hot water to make its way through the pipes. I decided to drain the water heater (installed in 2014) and attempt to replace the anode rod. The water came out dark red and when I attempted to remove the rod I found that it’s just not possible with a tremendous amount of force. I called at least one plumber who said they don’t replace it on units that old. I live in an area with hard water and there is a softener in place. Is this water heater in need of replacement at only 7 years or is this normal when draining a water heater? I have no idea what maintenance the previous owners did. https://imgur.com/a/c2aQFoQ submitted by /u/danknadoflex [link] [comments]
