Gas like petrol smell when running hot water

I recently bought a new home and when we run the hot water it smells like gas. Not the rotten-egg sulfur regular plumbing smell but gas, which is odd because we have an all-electric home. It started off faint and I thought maybe it was plumbing sealant reacting to the hot water but recently has gotten worse the smell doesn't seem to be directly from the faucet but rather like a vapor if that makes sense. I have had 2 plumbers come out. The first had no idea what it was and suspected maybe it was a reaction to something in the bathrooms, but then that night my washer put off that gassy smell during a hot water cycle times 10. A second plumber came out and drained the hot water heater and the smell reduced significantly. Two days later it is starting to get stronger again. This is a brand new home I have only lived in it for 2 months. I keep calling to complain with no clear answers. I think I need my water heater replaced but I would like to make a plausible case. If anyone has encountered this I would love to hear your thought on what this is. Thanks in Advance! submitted by /u/Ok_Resident2451 [link] [comments]
