Burliest, most overkill option for no hub coupling PVC line for direct burial ?
I have a 4" water supply line into my house at about 10-12 PSI. Schedule 40 PVC NSF 61 / potable. (It's gravity fed water tank into my house and I pressure it up once it gets inside) Anyway, it broke - I found this picture from previous reddit thread and this is exactly what I want to do: https://i.redd.it/690hqecev5f61.jpg ... insert a patch section with two no-hub couplers, stainless steel bands, and then backfill with *SAND* so there is no movement and no jostling. It's all pretty straightforward ... ... BUT I REALLY DON'T want this to break again anytime soon - we lose our entire tank of water and some months that is a BIG DEAL. So what are the burliest, strongest, most overkill models of no-hub couplers that I can happily overpay for ? I *think* the answer might be HUSKY CR 7000 - they are 316 stainless ... but now I see the Fernco XL Couplings and they really look like what I want - I love the fact that they are extra long ... it seems weird that the pipe diameter is 4 inches but I only grip 1.5" back onto the length of the pipe with a normal sized coupler ... that seems really short. ... but, of course, the Fernco XL is stainless 300 which is pretty lame. But I still like how much contact it gets down the length of the pipe. So are those the cadillac choices for direct burial of shielded no-hub coupler ? Any I am missing ? Thanks. submitted by /u/combhonn [link] [comments]
