Virat Kohli, who had opted out of the Asia Cup, lauded Team India's perfromace as they lifted a record seventh continental crown.

India defeated Bangladesh by three wickets in a thrilling Asia Cup final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

The Rohit Sharma-led Indian side clinched the prestigious title for a record seventh time, as Bangladesh's dream of their maiden Asia Cup title was shattered.

Virat Kohli had opted out of the tournament and take rest following a grueling tour of England, where he emerged as the leading run scorer. Kohli lauded Team India's performance for the win and also congratulated Bangladesh for 'giving' them a tough fight.

"Great job by the guys to win that tight game last night. Seventh Asia Cup title for us. Congrats to Bangladesh as well for giving a tough fight," Kohli tweeted.
